CLC FINANCIAL POLICY
How Are CLC USA Personnel Financed?
1. We look to God as the ultimate supplier of our every need. "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God , and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto You." said Jesus (Matt. 6:33), and we have found this promise to be true. The existence and development of the work itself is a testimony to God's unfailing supply.
2. We do not solicit funds for the advancement of the work, nor for the support of individual members. However, we do publicize our current activities and goals, as well as our continuing need for personnel, and we are willing to indicate our financial needs, whether for personal support or for the literature ministry.
3. In God's providence, the work is maintained by two means (a) the gracious contributions of God's people, as prompted by the Holy Spirit, (b) the surplus funds which accrue from our established literature ministries. Since salaries are not normally paid, proceeds are channeled into worldwide literature ministry.
4. Gifts made payable to CLC Ministries are deductible for income tax purposes. Funds contributed to CLC Ministries are disbursed at the discretion of CLC, but donors may request that their gift be used for a specific project or member's support. This request should be mentioned in a letter and not noted on the check. No deductions are made for administrative purposes.
5. CLC Ministires has established a Living Trust program whereby God's people can invest in the literature ministry and receive both a tax-deductible receipt and a return in the form of interest payments.
How Are Individual Members Supported?
6. Each CLC missionary, whether serving in the USA or abroad, looks to God to supply daily needs through friends and supporting churches or whatever means He chooses. Suggested support levels are established and reviewed at each Annual Conference. Current figures may be obtained by contacting the USA headquarters.
7. Though desirable, full support is not required before a worker may begin service in CLC .
8. In case of serious shortfall in a worker's monthly support, emergency assistance may available from the General Fund (which is made up of undesignated gifts to the mission) at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
9. Each member must be willing to embrace the sacrifice called for during any time of financial shortage.
10. Unless covered otherwise, all USA Members, serving at home or abroad, participate in a CLC -specified medical insurance program. Premiums for this program are deducted by the treasurer from the individual's monthly support.
11. Provision is made by CLC for housing all U.S.-based members. Those serving at headquarters in Fort Washington live in the mission-owned premises there. Retired members living away from headquarters are provided a housing allowance.
How Does the USA Field Assist CLC Work Overseas?
12. The USA Field sets aside a percentage of its total income from literature sales for overseas projects and expansion. This is in addition to donations designated for specific fields. By these two means new fields are entered, fields not yet self-supporting are sustained, and stronger fields are enabled to advance.
13. As the result of gifts designated for the purpose, the USA field has established an internal revolving fund which is used to assist CLC fields on an interest-free loan basis. So instead of continually paying rent on leased buildings, many fields have been enabled to buy premises. As these loans are repaid, the money is again made available for other carefully considered projects within our worldwide fellowship.
